Chung Hua Middle School, Kuala Belait (CHMS,KB) feted its staff and teachers on 10 September 2011, held at Cheng Wah Restaurant in Seria. It was a night of revelry, celebration and salutation. Long service teachers, 10 years to 35 years, were honoured and rewarded accordingly.
The 15 strong Board of Governors in attendance stood in unison and dedicated to all teachers a song by Brian Assellin, “You Have Made a Difference” [see my previous post if you wish to listen to and download this song]. In delivering this song the Board members are showing their gratitude for all teachers who have always been there for the children, changing the world, one child at a time. To this, another chorus was sung to champion teachers as Heroes [chorus from Mariah Carey’s “Hero”].
And, food, yes glorious food. Thanks to CHMS, KB Chairman of the Board, Mr Liew Xiao Yuen, who hosted the celebration gratis in his restaurant, teachers were feted with haute-cuisine, bar none. A look at the king-size lobster in the photo below says it all. Sensational, brilliant, delectable mouth-watering dishes.
Teachers and staff were fully engaged in all manners of performance, song, and dance. It was like watching the making of GLEE, a popular TV series, live. Laughter mingled with good fun plus gourmet food were ingredients in a unique celebratory recipe for the Teacher’s Day Celebration.
A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.
“The best teacher is the one who suggests rather than dogmatizes, and inspires his listener with the wish to teach himself.” Edward Bulwer-Lytton.
Let the pictures below tell the story for this fun-filled night.
